Welcome
These teacher's packs for Ampthill Great Park, which you are welcome to print, have been designed to help teachers and group leaders plan a free self-led visit to the Park.
Approximately 160 acres of parkland and woodland, Ampthill Great Park is a nationally important historic site; Henry VIII hunted here and the landscape we see today was created by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in the 18th century. Later in World War 1, it became the site of Bedfordshire Training Depot where local recruits trained for the front line and subsequently became a Command Depot treating wounded troops returning from the front.
These packs include practical information, activities for use on site and ideas to support follow up learning back in the classroom that can be adapted for a range of key stages. We encourage teachers to select and adapt the material to meet desired learning outcomes.
To book a visit or to find our more on either self-led or guided visits, delivered in partnership with The Greensand Trust, please contact our Education Team on 01234 743666, email: [email protected] or visit www.greensandtrust.org/forms/education-enquiry-form
