Ampthill's Weekly Charter Market

Every Thursday in the Town Centre Car Park, Church Street.

8.30am to 2.00pm

Ampthill Market has been held on a Thursday since 1219 and was confirmed by Royal Charter when the first of a number of annual fairs were authorised.  Presently the Market offers a wide variety of produce and goods:-

Good range of fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, pickling vinegar & seasonal produce

Keith's Fresh Grimsby Fish, including shellfish - orders taken.

Ampthill Country Market's home-baked goods such as cakes, pies, quiches, biscuits, preserves, pickles, seasonal produce & crafts

Confectionery, biscuits, cakes, crisps, snacks, soft drinks, tea, coffee, dried fruit and seasonal novelties

Extensive range of seasonal shrubs, plants, trees, bulbs & herbs. Enquiries and orders taken.

Household Wares (i.e. kitchen foil, cling film, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls, mops, buckets, brooms, bleach, disinfectant, washing up liquid, tissues, air fresheners, polish, toiletries, batteries, candles, lighters, dishcloths, tea towels, bin liners, food covers, etc - all your household essentials!)

Bicycles for children & adults (inc. accessories & repairs)   Orders taken.

Cards for all occasions, wrapping paper, gift tags, gift bags, party banners, balloons, party ware, diaries and calendars.

Watch batteries supplied and fitted at the card stall.

Wild bird seed & nuts, pet foods & treats, straw, hay, sawdust and pet accessories such as bowls, leads, toys etc by Parkers Pets (orders taken).

Second hand books, toys, videos, clothes, linen, bags, hats, china, jewellery, glassware & bric-a-brac by The Pasque Hospice (Keech Cottage Children's Hospice) - new items every week!

Hand-made Jewellery and crafts

Footwear including men's and ladies slippers and shoes.

Ampthill Farmers Market

The last Saturday of each month in Aragon Housing Association Car Park.

9.00am to 1.00pm

Farmers' Markets provide an ideal opportunity for fresh local produce to be sold by local producers to local shoppers, but the markets are also very well suited to Mid Beds which is characterised by a number of attractive market towns. Produce includes:-

Mark Bonner, Priestley Farm – Fresh locally grown vegetables

Angela Dyson, Wobbly Bottom Farm – Many varieties of goat’s cheese all made from Wobbly Bottom goat’s milk

Karen Cleverly – plants all year (except July and August), herbaceous, bedding plants, tubs, pots, hanging baskets and Christmas wreaths and greenery

Ampthill Country Market – cakes, biscuits, pies, preserves, pickles and crafts

Peter Cuthbertson – pottery designed and made by Peter with a distinctive style – practical and ornamental – commission accepted

Tim Elbourn, Cam Valley Orchards – apples, plums and pears (in season) plus fresh apple   juices and preserves.

Enid Hill, Harvest Bakery – sweet and savoury pies, tarts, cakes (inc. Christmas cakes)

Margaret Jones, Yelnow Farm – ORGANIC vegetables, fruit and plants (all in season), organic free range eggs

Ahmed Khaled – curry sauces and freshly cooked samosas

Kevin Morgan-Jones, Blacklands Farm – lamb, beef and pork (orders taken)

 Joanna Plumb, Edible Ornamentals – chilli plants, chillies, cucumbers, relishes, pickles and basil plants (all in season)

Keith Robins, Brook Farm – pork, bacon, sausages, pork pies and sausage rolls

Wally Thrale – local honey and honey marmalade

Blanche Walker, ( Franklins of Thorncote) – poultry, game, turkey, venison sausages and free range eggs (orders taken)

Produce Wanted: Fruits in season and any crafts not listed above - please contact Penny Francis at the Town Council for an application form if you are interested in becoming a Farmers' Market Producer. Producers welcome from within a 30 mile radius.
