My story - by Richard Jones

We’ve done 100km walks, we’ve done Triathlons, and we’ve done the 3 Peaks Challenge, what’s next? Oh yes… swim the English Channel.
Soooo we have booked the boat for August 2019 and we are going to do just that.
A team of 5 intrepid friends George Weber. Zoe Green, Elaine Cherry, Tracey Nichols and myself Richard Jones took up this huge challenge. Not sure we are quite up to cold water training for the big day at the moment but swimming cosies and Speedos are on this years’ Xmas list.
Why were doing it ......
Autism Bedfordshire (AB) has been a great source of comfort and support to so many of our friends when they needed it most. Here's a few words from Lucy
“I am over the moon that these wonderful people have decided on Autism Bedfordshire as their chosen charity for their channel swim. My son was diagnosed with ASD when he was 4 years old after his behaviour was picked up at Preschool. As a parent it is devastating and takes time and support to help you deal with it. Autism Bedfordshire has a 24 hour helpline you can call at any time for advice, support and just someone to talk to should you need it which I did. Once we as parents had come to terms with the diagnosis our main aim was to help our son access everything that ensured he had all the best tools for his future which AB helped provide us with”
