Present: Councillors Mrs S Bacon, P A Eversley, Mrs P Foster, R A Holden (Chairman), G Pascal,     M A Smith, G Summerfield, R Tebbutt, Mrs M Wilson and the Deputy Clerk Donna Searle. 

Apologies: Councillors R A D Chappell (unwell) and Mrs A M Wright (prior engagement). 

1.         Public Participation           

There had been no requests to speak. 

2.         Declarations of Interest

None declared. 

3.         The following applications received from Mid Bedfordshire District Council were considered:                       

09/00255/LBJohn Crosse Home, Station Road. Single storey rear extension, added external doors and windows to rear elevation and internal alterations to create 3 residential units. Aragon Land and Planning UK LLP 

Resolved: That the above application be supported, subject to a satisfactory report from the District Council’s Conservation Officer.            

09/00328/FULL

Ampthill Methodist Church, Dunstable Street. Demolition of existing single storey, replace with Part single Part two storey extension to form new entrance off Chandos Road and disabled parking area. Ampthill Methodist Church 

Resolved: That the above application be supported, subject to a satisfactory report from the Highways Officer as it is unclear if an additional on street car parking space on Chandos Road will be lost due to the relocation of the access.            

09/00239/FULL           

Land to the rear of 61-63 Arthur Street. Erection of 3 no. bedroom detached chalet. Mr K Knowles           

Resolved: That the above application be recommended for REFUSAL:

a)      Arthur Street is characterised by terraced properties and this proposed development is out of keeping with the street scene and will therefore have an adverse impact on the Conservation Area;

b)     Lack of amenity space;

c)      Loss of amenity to adjoining neighbours by reason of overlooking;

d)     There could be a conflict of traffic movements as this property is in close proximity to the emergency and health services and an established safer route to school;

e)      Would recommend that members of the Development Control Committee visit the site before the application is determined.    

4.         Trees           

09/00312/TPO: 12, 14 & 16 Station Road

Works to Sycamore and Lime trees.Aragon Housing Association 

Recommended: That the above works be approved, subject to a satisfactory report from the District Council’s Arboricultural Officer.
