Resolved: That the above application be supported. 

Notification from BT of proposed permanent removal of telephone box at Saunders PieceFollowing damage to the kiosk BT have advised MBDC that the kiosk is beyond economical repair and was removed in July and due to its low use BT do not want to replace it. The District Council have asked for our observations on the matter. The nearest alternative kiosk is located at the White Hart PH in Maulden. 

Resolved: That the Town Council are of the opinion that a kiosk should be reinstated in Bedford Street, close to Waitrose, where it will probably be of more use.

4.         To consider the following applications received from Mid Bedfordshire District Council:           

08/02261/CAC & 08/02260/FULL 1 Oliver Street. Removal of existing garage and erection of 4 dwellings.GPS Properties Ltd 

Resolved: That the above application be recommended for REFUSAL:

a)      Properties have very little amenity space;

b)     Site lies within the Ampthill Conservation Area and this development does nothing to enhance or preserve the character of the area;

c)      Loss of amenity to neighbouring properties;

d)     Very poor access to the site;

e)      Lack of adequate on-site parking for residents and visitors;

f)       Narrow footpath along Oliver Street which raises concern for pedestrian safety, especially the elderly and young children.

g)     Oliver Street is a safer route to school and increased traffic movements will pose additional hazards.

h)     The Town Council are most concerned about any intensification of traffic along Oliver Street due to the emergency and health services (fire, ambulance, doctors etc) that use this road.
