PARKING IN AMPTHILL

Town Centre Shoppers Car Park (by Waitrose)

Maximum stay: 2 hours
Car park spaces marked M: 4 hours maximum stay Mon - Wed.
Market vendors only on Thursday in lower part of the car park directly off Church Street.

Parking is unrestricted outside Waitrose store opening hours.

Free long stay parking is available in The Sands car park off Woburn Street and the parking bays along Woburn Street and Bedford Street.

Free Parking Facilities
Additional FREE Car Parking Facilities - available every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday. Visitors and shoppers to the town can park in the car park behind the Aragon Housing Association building each weekend and bank holiday. From Dunstable Street (opposite the Old Sun PH) turn into Chandos Road then turn first right and first right again. You can reach the town centre from the car park by walking down the side of the Housing Association building taking you back into Dunstable Street. This facility is provided courtesy of the Aragon Housing Association. PLEASE NOTE: Due to building works at Katherine's House there will be no public parking available at weekends and bank holidays between 22nd August 2011 and mid February 2012.

Ampthill Good Neighbours
Ampthill Good Neighbours is a Voluntary Group that provides a link between those residents needing help and those who are willing to offer it. The Group acts as a safety net for all residents, young and old. Using local volunteers. Ampthill Good Neighbours builds on existing help already provided in the town and also fills gaps in that provision.

Shopping / Running Errands, Doctor / Hospital / Clinic Appointments, Collecting Prescriptions,Outings, Longer Journeys, Small jobs (eg. changing light bulbs), Moving furniture, Carrying out emergency minor repairs, Occasional light housework, Dog walking/other pet care (eg. during holidays/illness), Cooking/preparing emergency meals and snacks, Filling in forms (non legal), Sitting with someone, writing letters, Delivering a meal, Befriending regularly, Gardening...

Did you know that it is an offence to Consume alcohol in Public in Ampthill?
This new 'Alcohol Consumption in Designated Places Order' came into force on 1st September 2005 and now makes it an offence to consume alcohol in certain designated places in Ampthill. This will provide Police Officers with the power to require people to stop drinking and surrender alcohol. It will be an offence to fail to comply with that request.
